    AT&T Inc, owes its name to the acronym of American Telephone and Telegraph.

    It is the world’s largest telecommunications company, the largest provider of wireless telephone services, and the largest provider of landline telephone services in the United States through AT&T Communications.

    As of June 14, 2018, it is also the parent company of media conglomerate WarnerMedia (formerly TimeWarner), making it the third largest media and entertainment company in the world.

    Spin off of WarnerMedia to merge with Discovery

    The American operator AT&T has confirmed that it will carry out the separation of WarnerMedia (which groups the media assets of the multinational) to merge the business with Discovery.

    AT&T shareholders will receive 0.24 shares of the new company Warner Bros Discovery (ticker WBD) and will control 71% of the new company.

    Likewise, the AT&T board approved a dividend of 1.11 dollars divided into 4 tranches that represents 40% of the payout.
