Welcome to the April 2023 overview, a month where the employment data was good in both the United States and Europe. Also noteworthy is the response of central banks to the banking problems that occurred last month in the US and Switzerland.
The euro reaches 12-month highs against the dollar. In summary, April was a month where inflation fell and employment improved, but we must be cautious, there is still mistrust regarding the banking sector.
That being said, let’s take a closer look at how the month went for our portfolio.
April 2023 Movements
Like every month, we are going to split the movements of the month into three blocks: purchases, sales and dividends to make reading more enjoyable.
Purchases
This month, like last month, we did not go shopping, with the current price of money in the US, where we have more exposure, we prefer to continue lowering the margin to minimize interest.
Sales
In April, we sold our position in Berkshire Hathaway. It is a company that we like and we do not rule out returning to it in the future, but due to the high interest rates and the fact that it does not pay dividends, we prefer not to have it and thus lower the margin a bit (and pay less interest).
